- Start by dissolving the Marseille soap shavings in hot water and stir until you get a homogeneous and slightly thick liquid. To obtain shavings, you can buy them as they are but you can also grate directly a cube of Marseille soap. You can pour half of the water on the shavings at first and adjust the quantity of water according to the texture of your mixture. You can also work the other way around and pour the shavings into a pan of water on the stove. Once the chips have dissolved, remove the pan from the heat and continue to stir for a few minutes to ensure that the mixture is smooth as it cools.
