Jacques Vabre Transat Partnership - SAVON DE MER

The Savonnerie du Midi is continuing its commitment to the maritime world by taking part in the events leading up to the start of the Jacques Vabre Transatlantic Race, which will take place off Le Havre on 7 November 2021.

Already chosen by the French Navy to develop and market a range of co-branded cosmetic products, and committed to the world of sailing through its support for the young skipper from Marseille, Matthieu Claveau, the Savonnerie du Midi will also be present on the pontoons of Le Havre before the start of the Jacques Vabre Transatlantic Race.

"For the occasion," says Guillaume Fiévet, Managing Director of the family-owned group that took over the business in 2013, "the Savonnerie has developed a special livery for its Savon de Mer, which will be given to all the skippers at the last briefing before the start on Saturday 6 November."

The cube developed especially for the 2021 Edition, a Jacques Vabre collector and stamped with the race colours, is based on the Savonnerie du Midi's flagship product, the 300g Marseille Soap with olive oil from La Corvette, a brand that has always been linked to the world of the sea.

This Sea Soap, biodegradable, respectful of aquatic elements and without plastic packaging, is part of our global vision of sustainable development, respecting the environment and biodiversity, and protecting nature, both on land and at sea," explains Guillaume Fiévet. For sailors, the 300g cube, once on board, will be a real Swiss Army knife of cleanliness: toilet, shampoo, dishwashing, linen care and why not shaving! A little piece of Marseille and the Mediterranean, on the Channel, Bay of Biscay and Atlantic seas, between Le Havre, our sister from Normandy, and Fort de France, our sister from the Caribbean.

The Savonnerie du Midi, founded in 1894, is based in the heart of the Aygalades district in the north of Marseille and joined the closed club of 'Living Heritage Companies' in 2020.

The La Corvette brand, under which a large part of the production is still distributed, has existed since that date, which makes it the oldest brand of genuine Marseille Soap made in the city of Marseille.
